DSK Benelli is not one of those brands which get instantly recognised when talking about exotic high-performance sportsbikes around the world despite the company having several proven products available in its portfolio like the Tornado 302, TRK 502, BN251 and Leconcino Scrambler. This is set to change as its Chinese owners are planning a number of large capacity road screamers.

The small and mid-size capacity motorcycles have established a strong basement and the success will be utilised to full-effect as the new ownership looks to up the ante by several notches. MCN revealed images of a couple of bigger capacity motorcycles last year that are tipped to catapult the brand image to new heights. Qianjiang, Benelli’s Chinese owner, has earlier revealed that following its impressive venture into several Asian markets including India, the resilient marque is concentrating on entering into potential European spaces.

Internally codenamed as BJ750GS, the new engine development highlights the move to large capacity motors as the project focusses on parallel-twin 750cc engine. It vows to compete against the likes of some of the established models such as the upcoming parallel-twin Duke 790 and BMW F800R. It is reported to be a brand new package with styling unseen on any of the current models and it seems to have been the case going by the spy pictures.

The first assault will be headed by a naked roadster, with appealing and matured looks, that could use the firm’s existing 82 bhp 600 cc engine or a 121 bhp 899 cc power unit to produce a total of up to 100 horses. However, a parallel-twin package with chain driven OHC will be the favourite to power a series of adventure tourers and range-topping sportsbikes.

As for the chassis, the new roadster is more likely to retain conventional steel trellis that will be reinforced with cast aluminium while the forks appear to be Marzocchi developed. It will continue to have the signature twin-tube swingarm featured on the Leoncino, BN302, Tornado 302 and TRK 502 besides a small silencer that’s neatly positioned close to the rear wheel.

The tail section is short courtesy of the swingarm-mounted number-plate hanger in addition to meeting Euro 6 regs that ask for bodywork to be extended beyond the back wheel. The same hanger houses LED indicators while the LCD screen up on the console displays all the necessary data. Features like high-set single exhaust canister, vertically positioned twin projector headlamps, USD forks, monoshock rear suspension, clip ons, etc will elevate its appeal further.
