Audi A3 facelift will get a downsized 1.4-litre TFSI engine instead of 1.8-litre engine; launching in India in February 2017
Audi A3 facelift is expected to launch in February 2017 in India, and it will get a downsized 1.4-litre TFSI turbocharged petrol engine instead of outgoing model’s 1.8-litre TFSI engine. With the smaller engine pricing of A3 facelift will be lowered as well, and it will become more affordable for the customers.
The same 1.4-litre TFSI engine generates power in 2016 Audi A4 sedan, which was launched in September this year. Performance of the upcoming A3 will be lowered as well. The outgoing Audi A3’s 1.8-litre TFSI engine kicks out 180 hp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque, while upcoming facelifted model’s 1.4-litre engine is likely to churn out 150 hp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque.

While new Audi A3 will get a smaller engine, transmission duty will be done by the same 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox. Fuel economy of the upcoming car is expected to be significantly improved however compared to outgoing model, which delivers ARAI certified 16.6 kmpl. On the pricing front, expect Audi A3 facelift model to get a price-tag of around Rs. 25 lakh, while present A3 is priced at Rs. 27.1 lakh.
India-spec Audi A3 facelift has received several updates, which include A4 inspired sharply designed ‘Blitz’ LED headlamps, a revised hexagonal single-frame front grille, new front bumper and revised foglamp enclosures as well. Apart from that, the sedan gets a sculpted hood, sharp character lines at side profile, sporty alloy wheels. Rear profile receives new wide and sleek taillights.

Like exterior, the interior of Audi A3 sedan has been updated as well. It sports a new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, Audi virtual cockpit instrument cluster and the touchscreen infotainment system has been updated as well. Audi virtual cockpit instrument cluster in the upcoming Audi A3 facelift comes as an option.
