Ashok Leyland bags order for 1200 trucks costing around Rs. 500 crore as Rivigo sets goal at featuring among India’s top 5 logistics service providers
Ashok Leyland has received a Rs. 500 order for 1200 medium and heavy trucks from the logistics start up Rivigo. The unique logistics service provider wants to become one of the top 5 CV fleet owners in India. It also aspires to expand its operations around the corners of the country. This large fleet of CVs will help the start up to reach that goal.
The new order will increase Rivigo’s fleet by 80% to 2700 vehicles in total within next 6-7 months. Incidentally, Rivigo is the fastest growing surface transport company in the country. This order for the 1200 commercial vehicles includes the Ashok Leyland BOSS. The BOSS has been one of the most successful products from the manufacturer. It can easily take on the rugged roads and smooth roads simultaneously.

The Rivigo operates across several segments like e-commerce, automobiles, FMCG, electronics, pharmaceuticals, textiles and consumer durables as well. Talking about the order Mr. Deepak Garg, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the start up has said, the company wants to deliver swift and smooth service to. The ambition to own the largest fleet is just a part of that plan. He also believes that this large fleet will give the company an opportunity to serve its customers in much better manner.
The logistics sector in India is dominated by small unorganized fleet operators. Around 80% of the Indian logistics sector is dominated by these operators. These small fleets come with around 8 to 10 trucks. But Rivigo’s 2700 unit strong commercial vehicle fleet will give the start up an edge over these small operators. The company uses a Driver Relay system and several technologies to make its service smoother. Now with such large fleet it will be more efficient to deliver the service, as the Rivigo believes.
