All-New KTM 1090 Adventure Lineup Unveiled at Intermot 2016

Austrian two-wheeler manufacturer has revealed 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure and 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure R, which replace the 1050 Adventure series motorcycles

Austrian two-wheeler manufacture KTM has revealed their all-new 1090 Adventure series motorcycles at the ongoing Intermot 2016 in Cologne, Germany. The lineup comprises of 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure and 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure R, and these models replace the previous 1050 Adventure series motorcycles. This model come powered by same engines from 1050, but power output has been updated.

Both the KTM 1090 Adventure, and its more extreme version 1090 Adventure R share several components. Both the motorcycles are based on same steel trellis frame, while the fuel tank, Brembo disc brakes and other technologies are also similar in both models.

The regular KTM 1090 Adventure is equipped with three-way traction control, slipper clutch and ride-by-wire technology. The 23-litre fuel tank ensures a really long range of travel, and it has 850mm high seat. It gets 43mm WP front forks with 185mm travel, while rear sports an adjustable WP shock with 190mm travel. The 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure runs on 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel, which are wrapped with Metzeler Tourance Next tyre.

KTM 1090 Adventure R is the more extreme version of the regular 1090 adventure. Sharing the same engine with its road biased sibling, this motorcycle is equipped with multi-mode traction control, slipper clutch, and Bosch developed multi-mode ABS. It features four different riding modes, which are – Sport, Street, Rain and Off-Road. The 1090 Adventure R is also equipped with adjustable WP 48 mm front forks and PDS shock at rear with both allowed to travel 220mm. It runs on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, and both are wrapped with Continental TKC 80 Twinduro tyres.

For power both the models rely on the same 1050cc 75-degree V-twin engines. But the engine has been re-tuned to churn out extra 30 PS of extra peak power than the current 1050, and also the engines now comply with Euro IV emission norm. The 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure series now churns out 126 PS of peak power. The 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure series is so far Europe only models.
