This 2017 Lexus IS sedan is wrapped in 41,999 configurable LEDs; features in Dua Lipa’s music video ‘Be the One’
Lexus has given a particular 2017 IS sedan an unique look with a suit made of 41,999 LEDs. This LED suit for the car has been designed and made for the music video of Dua Lipa’s single ‘Be the One’. The LEDs were applied by hand to the exterior of the car. Also, the LED suit has turned the exterior of this sedan into a programmable screen, which can broadcast graphics and colourful animations as well.
The LEDs have been programmed in such way, which make them look like responding to the music. The design has been made in collaboration between the Lexus and Vevo. It comes with three different modes for the lights. First one is the ‘Attract’ mode, which features loop of graphics highlighting the design of the Lexus IS sedan.

The other modes are the ‘Music Viz’ and ‘Gesture’. In the ‘Music Viz’ mode, the LEDs respond to the music and sync with the song accordingly. The third mode allows the animations to be controlled by hand gestures, which became possible due to the car’s connectivity with a gaming console. Lexus claims, the LED strips used in ornamenting the car were placed end-to-end and they would stretch for half a mile.
Lexus IS is an entry level luxury car sold by the automaker, which was first introduced in 1998. The stylish sedan is available in two different versions, the IS and performance oriented IS F-Sport. This car sports Lexus’ signature large and aggressive looking front grille, sharp projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights. Apart from that, it gets big multi-spoke alloy wheels, sharp character lines, turn indicator integrated ORVMs, shark fin antenna, sleek taillights and twin chrome tipped exhausts.

Interior of the car comes with premium appearance. It features an all black theme delivering a sporty vibe. Also, the sunroof, premium quality seat and upholstery material enhance its appeal inside cabin. Powertrain options are a range of engines, which include 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder, 3.0-litre V6 and 3.5-litre V6 units.
