2016 Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 is a V6-powered coupe and it will be one of the most efficient sports cars made by Mercedes
The Mercedes SLK 55 is an iconic sports car from the German brand. The car will continue to exist but its name has been changed to SLC. Mercedes is simplifying its naming procedure and naming the cars on which Class they are based on. SLK always has been based on the C-Class hence the name SLC is adopted. This is a facelift and the major change goes with the name and the engines for the new 2016 Mercedes-AMG SLC 43.
Cosmetically it gets new front-end with sculpted bonnet, new headlights, completely new bumpers front and rear – tail lamps will also see a slight revision. Side profile remains identical and the interiors are now even more plusher than before thanks to the company’s new design language for the interior of its coupes and sports cars. It has new COMAND system along with 4.1 inch touch screen. Roof mechanism has been altered and it is now faster – can be raised or lowered on-to-go at speeds under 40 km/hr.
The 2016 Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 gets a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo V6 making 362 BHP at 5500 RPM and a punchy AMG-style 520Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. Power is being sent to the rear through Mercedes’ all new nine-speed gearbox. Since the 2016 Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 makes less power than the old SLK 55, it is just a fraction slower from 0-100kph, clocking the sprint in 4.7 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250kph.
The 2016 Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 will come to India in the AMG form itself and we won’t be getting petrol and diesel engines like the European market. It will be placed as direct competitor of the Jaguar F-Type and the Porsche Boxster.
