The 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is all set to get Kawasaki’s famous Assist slipper clutch throughout the world in early 2016. The assist slipper clutch has been seen right from Ninja 300 to bigger bikes such as the ZX-10R. Though some bikes in between the stable lack it, but it seems Kawasaki believes to give it to the right bike at the right time. Who knows new alterations of the current motorcycles, which don’t have assist slipper clutch may get it soon as well.

What assist slipper clutch does is help you in smooth downshifting that is only possible when you match the revs every single time you downshift. But you don’t need to do that with the slipper clutch. Once downshift abruptly without the slipper clutch, the rear wheel would lock and could unbalance the bike. Not with the assist slipper clutch anymore.

When the engine is operating at normal rpm the assist cam functions as a self-servo mechanism, pulling the clutch hub and operating plate together to compress the clutch plates. This allows the total clutch spring load to be reduced, resulting in a lighter clutch lever pull when operating the clutch. Kawasaki says the clutch lever effort is reduced by a whopping 30%. As we know after testing Kawasaki bikes, the clutch is already light this should make it a doddle to operate now. Everything else on the motorcycle remains pretty much the same.
